Remove the fence

I have sat in this exact place hundreds of times over the last 5 years. But this is the first time I have truly been able to enjoy the view. My daughter Kennedy just turned 5 and over the last few months has become quite the little fish. Even though our pool is screened in to keep the bugs and strangers out, we also always had a fence around the pool for added safety. My husband pressure washed the patio this past weekend and hasn’t put the gate back up. Typically when she swims my view is blocked by a screen gate. Opened in one spot to allow her in but never allowing me a truly clear view. Anyways it has me thinking, what safety nets, or safety gates, or safety walls do we have built up around ourselves that stops us from seeing the true value or beauty or reality of a si

I Let Myself Down Today

Today I let my anger get the best of me. When faced with the opportunity to rise above, I chose to sink. The saying is that we can't control other peoples behaviors or how they treat us, we can only control our reactions. What if the person poking and prodding is your spouse? Parent, sibling or someone else close to you? Someone who knows just what to say that will get you to loose your mind. I don't feel like I'm crazy or hot tempered as I am often made out to be. But sometimes I just cant take the taunting and I react. Loose my crap... voice is raised, yelling ensues, things go flying and ultimately I make a fool of myself and give the other person the satisfaction of knowing that they succeeded in making me look crazy. I'm a mom of three and during the summer time my husband ru...

My Roots are Showing

Eek! It’s happening my roots are officially becoming a problem. With all the salons still closed and the probability that my next appointment will be cancelled it looks like I will be showing them off for a while longer. I know my hair looks blonde but the cat is out of the bag... I’m a natural brunette, my natural root is extremely dark. Luckily for me, my hairstylist is amazing and typically does a shadow root on my hair to make any future growth less noticeable. My all-time favorite product to help hide my roots is the DryBar detox dry shampoo. Check out the video below for a full break down and tutorial.

Sunflower Picking

There’s something about a sunflower that can instantly brighten someone’s day. Insert an entire field and you’ve got pure bliss! I am loving the fact that so many local business are rolling with whatever quarantine is throwing at them rather than rolling over and folding. When Hunsaders Farms announced that they were opening their sunflower fields to the public (safely and in full compliance of social distancing of course) I knew I just had to go! So once Ryann finished her last Zoom call for the day, we were off! The first thing we saw when we arrived, besides the sunflowers of course were BUFFALO! Y’all, they had buffalo roaming in a field right behind the sunflowers. How awesome is that!? They have slides made of farm tubing built into the hill that Levi and

Rye Preserve

School is out and so is all structure for the foreseeable future. Today we were invited by a few friends to explore a place we have never visited, a hidden treasure in our own Florida backyard. The Rye Preserve. Located right off of Rye Road in Manatee County it is about 15 minutes off the interstate with easy access. Upon our arrival I was instantly taken back by the lush trail. We followed the Red Trail back for about a 4 minute walk. To the right it starts to open up and with a slight climb down you enter the motherland! I was immediately transported to a West Virginia mountain creek in my mind. Kennedy loved splashing in the water and Levi loved catching the tadpoles. The creek itself has tons to explore. You can chose to go up stream, or if you go down stream it o...
